Maugel DeStefano Announces Design for White Cliffs Mansion Restoration

Northborough, MA— Maugel DeStefano Architects has begun design for the restoration of the historic White Cliffs Mansion, which will be transformed into a premier wedding and event venue. Developed by Brookfield, CT-based Elegant Banquets, the mansion was built in 1886 as the summer estate of industrialist Daniel B. Wesson.

1960s-era additions that obscure the mansion’ s historic front facade. The original front and side porches will be restored and enclosed with frameless glass, preserving the building’ s historic proportions, while adding light-filled gathering space. A new cocktail pavilion and grand ballroom are designed as architecturally distinct additions, set back from the primary facade to preserve key views of the historic structure.

The restoration team includes Lobisser & Ferreira Construction Co. as general contractor, Trillium Engineers on structural engineering, Hancock Associates leading civil engineering and landscape architecture, and Rich Correia as project advisor.

Mansfield Municipal Airport Begins Runway Rehabilitation

Mansfield, MA— Rehabilitation of Mansfield Municipal Airport’ s primary runway is underway, with Gale Associates, Inc. providing engineering design and construction administration through its Airport Engineering & Planning Group. Construction began July 13, and the airport will be closed to fixedwing aircraft for about three months while the work is completed.
The project includes reconstruction of Runway 14-32, Taxiway A, and
connecting stub taxiways, along with edge lighting upgrades on Taxiways B, C, and D to meet current FAA pavement design standards. Additional work includes drainage improvements, new airfield electrical infrastructure, guidance signs, runway and taxiway lighting, navigational aids, a new electrical vault, pavement markings, and site restoration.
Boston MedFlight will continue operating from the airport during construction, maintaining emergency
medical transport service for Southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The rehabilitation is the airport’ s first primary runway reconstruction since 1993.

The project is being completed under Gale Associates’ on-call engineering services agreement with the Town of Mansfield, funded through the FAA, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division, and the Town of Mansfield.
