Bridgeport, CT – Viking Construction has completed a $ 4 million buildout renovation project for Southwest Community Health Care Center in Bridgeport, located on the second floor of the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club.

The 10,000sf space was created to house medical, dental and behavioral services for the surrounding community. The project includes building exam rooms, check-in and waiting areas, an on-site lab, X-rays, procedure rooms, and meeting and office space.

As the Boys and Girls Club was in full operation during construction, Viking coordinated all work schedules, materials deliveries, and truck and worker access to be minimally disruptive. They also set up safety barriers, secured second-floor access, and put extra communication protocols in place between Viking,

Southwest Community Healthcare and the Boys and Girls Club. Additionally, as work was done in close proximity to children, all Viking employees and subs completed background checks and screenings before on-site work began.

The building originally had open spaces throughout which was ideal for Viking to be able to install new electrical, gas lines, fire sprinklers, and overhead HVAC systems. The plumbing and piping that runs in the flooring was more difficult as Viking had to coordinate work with activity taking place at the Boys and Girls Club on the first floor.

“ Coordination was the key word for this project,” said Anthonly Gaglio, Jr., vice president at Viking.“ We knew families, children, and staff were constantly using the Boys and Girls Club facilities, so we had to minimize our noise and traffic impact, customize our safety procedures, and commit to a higher level of ongoing communication. We appreciate everyone’ s flexibility throughout this process as we bring this important health care facility to the community.”

Agawam, MA – South Coast Improvement Company recently announced the completion of renovations at Pyramid Healthcare’ s behavioral health treatment facility located at 1200 Suffield Street in Agawam.

The project transformed an existing 2-story nursing home into a modern substance abuse treatment and recovery center designed to support patient care, safety, and long-term wellness. The renovated facility includes 76 resident rooms accommodating up to 209 beds, along with upgraded common areas, group rooms, laundry facilities, shower rooms, and support spaces. The renovation also incorporated enhanced fire protection and energy-efficient building systems, including upgraded lighting controls and modernized sprinkler and fire alarm systems designed to meet current Massachusetts building and safety codes.

South Coast Improvement Company coordinated extensive interior renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and life-safety improvements throughout the occupied healthcare environment. The scope included demolition and reconstruction work; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection; flooring, ceilings, lighting; and commercial kitchen improvements.
