Massport Breaks Ground on Braintree Logan Express Remote Terminal
Braintree, MA – Travelers south of Boston will soon have a new way to start a trip and head straight to their gate. Massport recently joined elected officials to break ground on two parking garages at the Braintree Logan Express site, one of which will house the authority’ s first permanent remote terminal facility. The project is expected to support more than 2,000 direct construction jobs.
Designed by Arrowstreet, with Consigli serving as construction manager, the $ 500 million development will add two eight-level garages and the terminal, bringing the site to 5,500 spaces when fully complete. Through the remote terminal program, passengers clear TSA security in Braintree, board a dedicated secure bus and arrive at Boston Logan beyond the checkpoint, all for $ 9.
Braintree builds on a pilot in Framingham, which has served more than 22,000 passengers with roughly 25,000 tickets sold. Unlike that site, where the terminal and garage sit on separate properties, Braintree will unite both operations in one integrated facility.
“ Massachusetts is leading the way in finding innovative solutions that make travel easier, save people time and reduce

traffic on our roads,” said Gov. Maura Healey.“ We saw the success of this approach in Framingham, and now we’ re bringing it to the South Shore.”
Work will proceed in two phases, with parking and Logan Express service continuing throughout. Customers can reserve spaces through SpotHero at the nearby Quincy Adams MBTA garage, where a dedicated shuttle will carry them to Braintree. The first phase, covering the terminal and one garage, should wrap up within the next few years.
Sustainability is built into the design to support Massport’ s net zero goals. Both garages will carry façade solar panels, and one will add rooftop arrays. Battery storage, electric vehicle charging and geothermal heating and cooling are also planned, and Massport is pursuing Gold certification under LEED and Parksmart.
Massport CEO Rich Davey said the
pilot proved how much passengers value an easier, less stressful beginning to a trip.“ The new facility builds on that success by bringing that experience to the South Shore, while also adding much-needed parking capacity,” he said.
The project anchors Massport’ s wider strategy to put fewer cars on airport roadways. About 22 % of Logan passengers used high-occupancy modes in 2025. Logan Express alone carried more than 2.5 million riders, with Braintree ranking second behind Framingham. The network’ s five locations( Framingham, Woburn, Braintree, Danvers and Back Bay) serve every terminal at the airport.
Local leaders welcomed the news. U. S. Rep. Stephen Lynch praised the union jobs created under a Project Labor Agreement, saying smart transportation investments make a real difference across the region. Sen. William Driscoll Jr. credited Davey and Healey for backing the building trades, noting passengers can complete security before reaching the airport. Braintree Mayor Erin Joyce called the terminal and added parking a tremendous amenity for the town, noting that Braintree has a long history with Logan Express.
