Madeline Hosie

Madeline Hosie is a project manager at Kaplan Construction with a strong foundation in complex, high-performance environments. She earned her Bachelor of Science in architecture from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2019, drawn to a field that balanced creativity with practicality. Her path into construction took shape after being introduced to the construction management world through a friend. She quickly realized how much she valued working directly with field teams and being a tangible part of the building process.

Madeline credits much of her success to adaptability, strong time management, and a team player mindset.
Construction projects can shift in an instant, and she prides herself on adjusting quickly and keeping momentum moving forward. She thrives in fast-paced environments, efficiently prioritizing tasks and tackling complex to-do lists. Above all, she values collaboration.“ No project gets completed alone,” she notes.“ Building strong relationships makes even the toughest phases of a project manageable.”
Madeline is currently managing the renovation and expansion of Sportsmen’ s Tennis & Enrichment Center( STEC), an
experience she describes as especially meaningful. For more than 60 years, STEC has used tennis as a gateway to opportunity for youth in some of Boston’ s most underserved neighborhoods. Building on the first two phases Kaplan delivered in 2024, Phase 3 includes a new connector building linking the three existing court structures, along with new locker rooms, a gym, common spaces, two outdoor courts, and additional recreation space. Phase 4 will focus on interior renovations and an addition that will create an 8,600sf ADAaccessible lobby and welcome center, flexible community space, and staff offices.
Outside of the office, Madeline enjoys traveling and spending time with her loved ones, especially when she can combine the two. Her advice to young women entering the industry is simple but powerful: Be yourself, be fearless, and know the documents!

Maddy Cote

Transitioning from a middle school classroom to the complex world of construction estimating might seem like a leap, but for Maddy Cote, it was a natural evolution. What began as a part-time endeavor assisting her husband evolved into a full-time estimator and scheduler role over the last four

years as she refined her craft.
For Maddy, estimating is far more than just crunching numbers. It is a balancing act
“ It is really cool to have a part in helping a project go from conception to completion, and to know that I had a part, albeit a small one, in creating homes for so many people,”
that requires a unique mental duality that combines putting together the right numbers to win a bid and then helping the project team get it done while ensuring that National Granite Flooring and their partners are successful. A typical day in her life is a whirlwind of activity: managing over 100 emails, maintaining complex estimating schedules, supporting project teams, and responding to Value Engineering( VE) requests to keep bids moving out the door. She thrives on the variety of the work, noting that every bid is a fresh puzzle shaped by different general contractors, specifications, and project types.
“ One area we specialize in is multifamily
housing. It is really cool to have a part in helping a project go from conception to completion, and to know that I had a part, albeit a small one, in creating homes for so many people,” says Maddy.
The true reward, however, lies in the finished product. She says,“ For me, estimating allows me to use both sides of my brain: the logical and the creative. It’ s about the challenge of putting together the right numbers to get a job and building the relationships to make the project and the people we are working with successful.”
