Senator Visits Flow Tech to Discuss ESOP

( l to r) Andrew Marques, Joshua Prouser, Megan Cunningham, Ferdinand Gojani, CT State Senator Saud Anwar, South Windsor Mayor, Craig Zimmerman, Kevin Wixom, Michael O, Davis, PE, U. S. Senator Chris Murphy, and Mike Tagliaferro.
South Windsor, CT— Flow Tech, Inc., a 100 % employee-owned provider of engineered HVAC equipment and systems, recently welcomed U. S. Sen. Chris Murphy, Connecticut state Sen. Saud Anwar, and South Windsor Mayor Craig Zimmerman to its South Windsor headquarters for a conversation about employee ownership, the company’ s experience as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan( ESOP) company, and the work its employee-owners support throughout Connecticut and New England.
Murphy visited as he considers cosponsoring the American Ownership and Resilience Act( AORA), S. 1645, a bipartisan bill and legislative priority for The ESOP Association aimed at making employee ownership more accessible to businesses across the country.
One of the biggest barriers to forming an ESOP is access to capital. AORA seeks to address that challenge by establishing a zero-subsidy investment facility within the U. S. Department of Commerce that would use federal loan guarantees to help mobilize private investment for businesses transitioning to employee ownership. The legislation could make it easier for retiring business owners to sell their companies to their employees through an
ESOP, helping preserve businesses, jobs, and local ownership.
Flow Tech has been 100 % employeeowned since September 2021, when former owner Rich Harper chose the ESOP model to preserve the company’ s culture and independence, reward employees, and establish a long-term succession plan. During the visit, Flow Tech employeeowners shared firsthand perspectives on how employee ownership has shaped their experience and strengthened the company’ s culture.
“ Employee ownership is an important part of who we are, and we were proud to share our experience directly with Senator Murphy and our local and state leaders,” said Michael O. Davis, PE, president of Flow Tech, Inc.“ We’ ve seen firsthand how the ESOP model can benefit employees, strengthen a company’ s long-term health, and help keep businesses rooted in their communities.”
The delegation also toured Flow Tech’ s office and Demo Lab, where company representatives highlighted technologies and projects supporting schools, universities, healthcare and research facilities, commercial buildings, and water and wastewater facilities.

AI-Enabled Facility Platform Acquired

Nashua, NH— Symetri has acquired the operations of SpaceIntel, a U. S.-based provider of an AI-enabled facility management platform. The acquisition brings SpaceIntel’ s software, staff, and customers to Symetri and extends the company’ s support from design and construction into long-term facility operations.
Facility owners often have building information scattered across spreadsheets, PDFs, outdated floor plans, and disconnected systems. That fragmentation can leave scans and models disconnected from operations, asset and maintenance records without spatial context, and compliance information difficult to access.
SpaceIntel enables organizations to manage facilities, equipment, staff, and resources across multiple locations using digital building data and structured workflows. The platform connects spatial information from 3D scans, building information models, point clouds, and 2D drawings with asset management, building automation, maintenance, compliance, enterprise resource planning, and IoT systems.
The acquisition expands Symetri’ s ability to support clients across healthcare, education, manufacturing, financial services, commercial real estate, and data centers.
“ SpaceIntel is a natural fit for Symetri and the clients we serve,” said Mark Lackovic, chief business development officer at Symetri USA.“ Owners need a better way to extend the value of their design and construction investments into day-to-day operations. By connecting building data, assets and operational systems, SpaceIntel creates that continuity and puts the information and technology clients already have to work.”
