Construction Completed on 40,300sf Skating Rink in Belmont
Belmont, MA – Skanska announced the substantial completion of the new 40,300sf Belmont Skating Rink and Athletic Facility in Belmont. The new facility occupies the site of the former Viglirolo Skating Rink, which was demolished prior to construction.

The new facility designed by The Galante Architecture Studio provides the Belmont community with an energyefficient, year-round venue for youth and high school hockey, figure skating, and recreational programs, supporting the town’ s long-term commitment to sustainability and public recreation.
The project scope included the construction of a new 40,300sf steelframed, pre-engineered metal building, inclusive of the new rink complex with a conventional 200-foot by 85-foot ice sheet. The fossil-free facility also features four high school team locker rooms, four dressing rooms, public toilets, bleacher seating, and a concession stand. Skanska also installed PV solar panels on the roof of the main building and a heat pump refrigeration system to ensure the ice surface remains sufficiently cool, in addition, through the use of energy recovery systems the spaces within the facility.
The project was delivered on schedule after an 18-month construction period, which commenced in October 2023.

Charter School in Marlborough Completes new 17,000sf Academic Building
Marlborough, MA – Finegold Alexander Architects recently completed the first new academic building on campus for the Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School( AMSA) in Marlborough.
In September 2025, the Main Building – which houses the main administrative offices, new classrooms, and science labs – opened to students for the school year, serving the Class of 2032 as the first to use it throughout their entire middle and high school career. The Main Building offers students comprehensive learning opportunities supported by state-of-the-

art classroom technology.
Originally opened in 2005 with the mission to provide rigorous collegeoriented education in math, science, and technology for students of diverse background, AMSA is a public charter school that now serves 966 students in grades 6-12 from over 30 communities in the greater Boston area. The school currently owns and occupies a threebuilding campus located at 165, 199 and 201 Forest Street in a former office park. Finegold Alexander worked closely with AMSA to align the school’ s campus facilities to support their educational programs.
In addition to the design of the new 17,000sf Main Building, the project reimagined campus circulation to enhance the pick-up and drop-off experience for students and their families, creating a clear separation between vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
